Central administration for around 1,000 funds - efficient, flexible, automated

The Challenge

The investment company Union Investment wanted to enable employees from several departments to quickly and reliably access all relevant fund information - such as currencies, benchmarks or investment limits. The aim was to create a central application for around 1,000 funds that would standardize and simplify processes. Creating and editing funds should also be faster and possible independently of the IT department. At the same time, there was a bottleneck in quality assurance: manual testing delayed releases and tied up experienced specialists.

Our solution

Together with Union Investment, we developed FondsProfiler—a user-friendly application that allows portfolio managers to independently create new funds with up to 500 data fields. To implement the project efficiently, we took over test automation in parallel with development. This enabled us to completely replace manual testing and accelerate the release process.

The result

The project was completed on schedule—despite several adjustments during the course of the project. A total of 1,800 specialist tests were automated. This allowed 30 internal specialists to concentrate on their core tasks again. The quality of the application increased noticeably, and development became faster and more flexible. Union Investment now has a scalable solution that removes both technical and organizational hurdles.
