Efficient digitalization of sales and administrative processes

The Challenge

We implemented one of the most significant and forward-looking projects as part of the digital modernization of the social lottery Aktion Mensch. Among other things, the sales and administrative processes were to be digitized. This was achieved through the development of reusable services via an API built with MuleSoft. Our client is the most successful and well-known social lottery on the German market. With its proceeds, it supports up to 1,000 social projects each month for people with disabilities, children, and young people. As part of the digital transformation, both the lottery’s sales and administrative processes as well as other concepts were to be digitized. HyPlus implemented one of the most significant and forward-looking projects as part of the planned IT restructuring measures. The project began with the goal of developing an API facade to provide new ways to play and new touchpoints for players. To achieve this, HyPlus encapsulated individual systems step by step so they could be reused as a foundation for other services.

Our solution

One of the major challenges in the project was that the lottery was based on a historically grown and heterogeneous backend system whose communication relationships in the system were not transparent. The team analyzed the IT landscape and proceeded in accordance with Mulesoft's API-led connectivity:

  • Build system APIs that encapsulate individual backend systems
  • Create a domain-oriented process layer to be able to process required requests
  • Develop an experience layer to realize the access of every consumer and to be able to provide the results precisely.

Mule Runtime is used for the solution. The Anypoint portal adds many functions for defining APIs, controlling the environment and evaluating API requests.

The result

By developing reusable services, HyPlus has provided the client with a scalable, easy-to-maintain, and stable tool that has made a significant contribution to the company’s digital transformation. Building on this foundation, new digital business cases have already been developed in collaboration with partner companies, and these are set to be further expanded in the future.
