The Challenge
The legally compliant labeling of product prices in accordance with the Price Indication Ordinance (PAngV) poses a considerable challenge in the retail sector. This task is particularly demanding due to recent changes in the calculation of price reductions. Incorrect price tags can be expensive for companies, as specialist law firms use the errors to charge warning fees. This poses a serious problem for wholesalers and retailers, as incorrect pricing can lead to significant financial consequences.
Our solution
Our solution focuses on the seamless integration and adaptation of new functionalities into existing systems without having to write off existing investments. The Retail Labeling System (RLS) uses existing interfaces of merchandise management systems to automatically retrieve or receive article master data, price information, and price changes. Intelligent comparison of new and current data prevents unnecessary process steps and ensures that only actual changes trigger the issuance of a new price tag. After the article data has been updated, the price history of the articles is automatically adjusted and the discount is recalculated in accordance with the PAngV (German Price Indication Regulation). The new price tags are provided as a suggestion list and can be printed either directly or after manual approval, or forwarded to a print shop. The system uses established standard formats and protocols and can be operated both in the Azure Cloud and in local data centers. The modular microservices, modern web front end, and redundant database structure ensure a flexible, easily configurable, and fail-safe solution.
